Back in 2010 my daughter and I were out shopping for school things when we noticed that there was an adoption going on at the PetSmart next door.
We had euthanized one of our dogs about 6 months earlier and were thinking it was about time to get another. Was thinking about a larger dog, but then we saw him. Where the other dogs and puppies were nervous and loud, this little guy, named Baby Charlie at that point, was very calm and looked at us lovingly. My daughter asked to hold him and we sat there for a bit and I asked her "well, what do you think?" To no surprise, she said that we should get him.
The adoption agency needed to see everyone in the house (and other animals too) so after my wife didn't answer the phone, I drove home to get them. My daughter stayed there and continued to hold him, and when someone asked if he could hold him, she told him, in no uncertain terms, NO!
We found out that he had been running wild in Napa, was caught and was taken by the agency to find a good home. The vet said he was about 4 months old at the time.
Well, he wasn't the best behaved dog that I've ever had, he was quite the rascal at times, but he was a real sweetie and a lot of fun. We were together over 16 years and he had a great life!
Below are some of my favorite photos of him.
