“Baby” the Story of my Mustang
I have had this since 1980
It is a 1965 coupe. It originally came with a 6 cylinder and automatic transmission.

It sat way too high.
Adding fiberglass flares
I needed to add flares to lower it the way I wanted.
Building a front air dam
I also added this air dam.
I decided that I hate doing bodywork, especially fiberglass!
Back in 1983 when I finished the body and paint.
I added disc brakes from a Mach I
A 351 Cleveland, 12.5:1 compression, Holley 700 double pumper and Accel distributor.

Disaster!
Not long after the previous pic was taken, the radiator broke lose and went into the radiator!
I was having so much fun until then.
Later, I added Wilwood 4 piston brakes and 17″ torqueflite wheels at all corners
After all that the brakes weren’t any better than what I had before. Sigh!
In 2003 life slapped me in the face hard. It sat for a few years with little attention.
About 2018 after the divorce from my second wife, I had the money and ambition to work on it some more.
I discovered that I was sold the wrong master cylinder; it was for a power brake assisted unit and wasn’t going to work no matter what.
A new Wilwood master cylinder.
Unfortunately, this was about the time Covid hit and I was left to try and bleed the brakes by myself.
I tried vacuum bleeding; didn’t work well.
Tried pressure bleeding. Was tricky, but was able to get them to work somewhat.
As it looks as of this writing.
The specs:
- 351 Cleveland bored .030 over
- Boss 302 heads, ported and polished by me
- 12.5:1 compression ratio
- Norris cam
- Holley 750 DP
- Accel distributor with Pentonix breakerless module
- Nickel plated headers
- Aluminum radiator with electric fan
- Toploader 4 speed transmission with 2.78:1 first gear
- Nodular rear end with 3.50:1 and Detroit Locker
- Lowered a bunch
- Wilwood 4 piston calipers with Wilwood master cylinder and proportioning valve
